The Truth of Jesus in Your Life As followers of Christ, we are called to believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Contemporary Christians often shy away from confronting this blatant biblical truth. 2 Timothy 3:16 states it bluntly: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” (NIV).
Belief Matters It seems fashionable in Western society to embrace almost anything not connected with “orthodox” or “traditional” Christianity. Celebrities tout their unusual belief systems, (with equally unusual names) as the new fad of the day. Fans follow them into these belief systems like mindless lemmings running over the cliff. In the middle of this argument steps the new humanist philosopher who says that none of it matters as long as
Lead Without Apology There is no apology needed for discipling men and women “God’s Way.” In Genesis, God shows us how. As a potter shapes clay, God formed Adam out of dust into the shape of a being, and majestically breathed life into him through his nostrils (Gen 2:7). This is a loving God who cares about every part of your being; including discipling you to your greatest potential.
‘Tolerance’ is not ‘Love’ Tolerance and true love are not best friends. On the surface it may seem that way, but a visit to just about dictionary and a cursory glance at God’s Word quickly contrast the two. Tolerance isn’t really even forbearance; it’s simply “allowances in deviations” (Merriam-Webster). Does man pine for allowance or acceptance? Love is where you find acceptance; not tolerance.

The Foundation of Science is Absolute Truth

Truth is not a collection of subjective opinions. Neither is scientific knowledge.  Scientific understanding is best described as a collection of man’s explanations and theories about objective reality that is based on observed or predicted phenomena.

It assumes reality can be known, and that objective laws and truth exist and are verifiable.

Diversity: The Spice of Life

Diversity can certainly add ‘spice to life.’ When God fashioned man, and woman, in His image (Gen. 1:27), diversity sprang forth from what His wisdom and creativity wove together as He fearfully and wonderfully created mankind (Ps. 139:14)!

The Miracle at The Kitchen

As a Community Chaplin volunteer, I try to make myself more available during the holidays at the Community Kitchen in Canton, NC.

In hard economic times, the holidays don’t always give everyone warm and fuzzy feelings. The atmosphere in the kitchen was festive that afternoon. The Friends of the Community Kitchen were preparing a great meal and the guests were conversing and laughing at the antics of a little boy who just turned one.

Rest: The Missing Ingredient to Total Well-Being

We schedule meetings, lunch, doctor visits, exercise, soccer practice, sleep -- the list goes on. But do we schedule rest? In this over-stimulated society, evidence is adding up that rest – the kind that recharges mind, body and soul – is something we need to be intentional about.

At the beginning of the human story, God was intentional about rest.
